Paid ads are how most online stores reach people who have never heard of them. This category covers the ad platforms themselves and tools that help produce ad creative or manage campaigns on top of them.
The big platforms now automate much of the work. Shopping and Performance Max campaigns on Google, and Advantage+ shopping campaigns on Meta, take a product feed, a budget and a goal, then decide placements, audiences and bids with machine learning. Your inputs still matter: an accurate product feed, good images and video, correct conversion tracking and a sensible budget.
Creative tools generate ad images, banners and copy variations with AI, or turn product photos into many sizes and formats. They help a small team keep enough fresh ads in rotation. Check every generated ad for accuracy, brand fit and any claims the product can't back up, and keep the platforms' ad policies in mind.
Management tools add rules, reporting and automation across ad accounts. They suit stores spending enough that small improvements in bidding or audience choice pay for the tool.

Budget in small, steady steps. Automated campaigns need time and data to learn, and large daily swings in budget restart that learning. Many stores set a test budget for a few weeks, look at cost per order and return on spend against their own margins, and only then scale up.
Keep exclusions and brand terms in mind. Shopping and Performance Max campaigns can spend on people searching for your own brand, who might have bought anyway. Check search term reports where the platform provides them, add negative keywords where it makes sense, and track new customer orders separately from repeat ones.
Creative tends to wear out faster than targeting. The same image or video shown to the same audience for weeks loses its effect, and costs creep up. Plan a regular supply of new ads, test new angles against the current best performer, and retire ads whose results have clearly dropped. Short video made for vertical placements, such as Reels and Stories, often needs its own versions rather than a cropped landscape ad.
Before scaling spend, make sure conversion tracking is right. If the ad platform can't see purchases accurately, its automated bidding learns from the wrong signal. An attribution tool from the analytics category helps compare what each platform claims with what actually sold.
Google Shopping and search ads catch people already looking for a product. Meta ads create demand among people who are not searching yet. Many stores test both with small budgets before committing.
They help produce variations and resize assets quickly. Strong original product photos and video still make the biggest difference, and every generated ad needs a human check.
Each platform counts conversions with its own attribution rules, and several can claim the same order. Compare platform numbers with your store orders and an attribution tool.
A file of your products with titles, prices, images, availability and identifiers that ad platforms use to build shopping ads. Most store platforms can generate and sync it.
